How is Israel significant in the End Times? Why should we as Christians even focus on the nation of Israel? With the start of our new series, Pastor Jonathan focuses on Israel through not only looking at their past but also what will happen in the near future according to Biblical prophesies.
2 Peter 3:3–4 NLT: “3 Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. 4 They will say, ‘What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.’”
Jesus scorned the carnality of the Pharisees for not recognizing prophetic symbolism.
Matthew 16:1–3 NLT: “1 One day the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus, demanding that he show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove his authority. 2 He replied, “You know the saying, ‘Red sky at night means fair weather tomorrow; 3 red sky in the morning means foul weather all day.’ You know how to interpret the weather signs in the sky, but you don’t know how to interpret the signs of the times!”
Joel 2:31–3:2 NLT, emphasis added: “31 The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn blood red before that great and terrible day of the Lord arrives. 32 But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved, for some on Mount Zion in Jerusalem will escape, just as the Lord has said. These will be among the survivors whom the Lord has called. 1 ‘At the time of those events,’ says the Lord, ‘when I restore the prosperity of Judah and Jerusalem, 2 I will gather the armies of the world into the valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will judge them for harming my people, my special possession, for scattering my people among the nations, and for dividing up my land.’ ”
Do you believe we’re living in the last days? Is it really the end of the world? All of the signs seem to point to an uncertain future. In this new series, Pastor Jonathan will explore Biblical understanding of the End Times and how we are not only equipped to face it but also overcome it.
